peddler of dreams
where do you go
when the night is done
and there's nothing
to see but sun,
where do you turn
when there's nothing to learn,
when the globe is flat
and the maps are burned,
who do you blame
out here in the rain
in a time of need
with mouths to feed,
no fuel, no fire,
just blood in your
veins to bleed?
who'd believe?
no way to say it
but in the song
of a dying swan,
the one sweet note
that bird is ever
known to sing-
the songs the thing.
